Day Adventist Church Choir
In Africa the music of the Church and traditional African rhythms have for centuries been combined to form an intoxicating brew. In Toronto the African gospel music has quietly grown with several independent CD releases as testament to the popularity of these local delights within their respective communities. The Angelic Voices of the 7th Day Adventist Church Choir perform both in church and at other venues, such as Ghana Independence Day celebrations, and have a CD release under their belts titled "Fa Nyame Ye Wa Dze Nyinna" (Depend on God in everything you do). Led by their pastor Rev. Kwabena Donkor the choir sings in several of the languages of Ghana including Twi and Ewe. Their performances are driven by drums, bells and shakers with accompaniment on keyboard and the power of a full choir. The goup performed at AfroFest in 1996, 1997 and also in 1999. |
