Aron Niyatunga arrived in Toronto from his native Burundi in the late eighties and quickly established himself as a leading creative force on the local African music scene. Late last year Aron released his own CD aptly titled I’m On My Way. The CD was appropriately released, given the long collaboration between the artists, together with Lizzy Mahashe’s debut disc Africa Belongs to Me. Both releases featured Aron’s band and production. Mahashe will be a featured guest on stage with Aron at AfroFest, contributing her exceptional vocal talents.
