Hamid Baroudi

Hamid Baroudi is one of the most important artists in the European world music scene. African, euro, middle-eastern, ethno, and techno are just some of the adjectives used to describe Baroudi’s music. From with his Algerian roots, he has ventured fearlessly into the sounds of funk, west-african, drum and base, and other dance music forms. Baroudi is one of the leading innovators of the cross-cultural, multi-lingual, multi-genre sound. A huge star in Europe, Baroudi has headlined thre Womad tours, and has seen both albums earn top 5 position on the European World Music Chart.

In North America, word-of-mouth, rare imports and the inclusion of one track on the prestigious Rykodisc Big Noise ll compilation has been the only indication of the immense talent of Hamid Baroudi. Seeing (and hearing) is believing.

Hamid Baroudi was scheduled at AfroFest in 1998 but cancelled his tour.
