Kache
Kashala
From
Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kache Kashala
was born into a large Christian family. His Father was a Pastor and
director of a Presbyterian school and his early life revolved around
the church and family. Kache followed in his father's footsteps and
joined the seminary. Over the years he would pursue his love of music
through the church choirs. He began to perform and record gospel music
from the mid '70's.
Kache was blessed with an extraordinary voice and has worked hard
to develop his skills as a composer and arranger. During his years
in Congo, Kache became popular as a gospel musician and he recorded
many hit songs. In 1991 he decided to pursue a solo career and moved
to South Africa where he recorded his first album, Mapenzi. Over the
next few years Kache performed and recorded with many different gospel
groups, and in 1993 he was reunited with an old friend and fellow
performer, John Kalombo and formed Yahweh Shammah Band. This union
helped to produce his next album Sanjolama Nkosi. This album was selected
as the best recording for the Association of Christian Musicians of
the Congolese Community in South Africa. This recording was also at
the top of the charts on the Congolese Praise television and radio
network.
Kache has taken gospel music from the confines of the church and exposed
it to a wider audience. With four albums to his credit, his latest
The Incomparable Jesus, has been topping the radio charts locally
and internationally. Kache is one of the leaders in African gospel
music today. He is indeed a performer who puts a lot of energy, a
lot of motivation and love into his music. Currently, Kache and his
group perform their unique style of uplifting gospel music from Africa
in their church in Toronto and for other special occasions.
