Organized by Senegalese griot Tamsir Seck, the third annual ‘Xaware Toronto – The Sound of the New Griots’ will feature classes (Sabar and dance instructed by Thiokho Diagne and Papa Ndiaye on August 6, 2010) followed by performances the next day by thirteen artists (including Tamsir Seck, Thiokho Diagne, Papa Ndiaye, Elage Mbaye, El Hadj Diouf among others).

This Guinean tradition in which participants and performers wear blue outfits to symbolize the unifying qualities of music and dance has been brought to Toronto by Guinean griot Cheka Katenen Dioubate.
